Hernia Aid
Andrew Kingsnorth is a specialist in pancreatic and hernia surgery. He retired from clinical practice in 2014. He has contributed to humanitarian, global outreach programmes since 2001 in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Africa and South America. Since 2005, as Director of Operation Hernia (2005-2013) and Hernia International (2014 – present) he has joined/arranged over 200 teams of surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses, treating over 20,000 hernia patients worldwide.
In 2023 he received the International Volunteerism Award from the American College of Surgeons.
Andrew became a Paul Harris Fellow in 2012 and is currently a member of Sidmouth Rotary Club, which is supporting a bid for a Global Grant to fund a new concept in humanitarian hernia outreach: Hernia Aid – a programme that aims to deliver affordable mesh, to enable local healthcare workers to be self-sufficient in modern inguinal hernia surgery.
